Dr. Hönle AG Ongoing positive development with Hönle

The positive development of the UVspecialist Hönle (ISIN: DE000 515710 1) continued in the secondquarter of financial year 2003/2004. Group sales rose in the firstsix month by 32 % to T EUR 10,423. All three business segments sawsales increases. Growth was most significant in the inks and coatingscuring segment where sales rose from T EUR 4,710 in the first half of2002/2003 to T EUR 6,323 in the first half of 2003/2004.

Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) increased during the sameperiod by 137.8 % from T EUR 489 to T EUR 1,164. Earnings beforetaxes (EBT) increased by 62.4 % from T EUR 884 to T EUR 1,436. Due tolosses carried forward from the previous financial year and todeferred taxes disclosed for Wellomer GmbH in the last financialyear, the six-month net income of T EUR 911 was lower than in thecomparable previous year?s period (T EUR 1,004).

The equity ratio amounts to 83.8 %.The total liquid funds andfinancial assets portfolio amounts to T EUR 15,634, despite dividendpayments of T EUR 417 and the premium of T EUR 389 paid within thecontext of acquisition of the participation certificates. Thiscorresponds to a cash proportion of EUR 2.98 per share.

Outlook:In our opinion, the positive development of the Hönle Group will alsocontinue in the third quarter. Due to orders on hand and intake ofnew orders, sales and earnings are likely to rise further in the nextquarter in comparison to the previous year?s quarter. We expectpositive effects for the next quarters as a result of the Drupa tradefair taking place in May.
