Soumitra Dutta, Insead, Fontainebleau Dutta: "We have to work hard to build a better word for everyone"

Why do you go to the World Economic Forum?

I have been to the forum for the last three years. I am not sure if this qualifies me als a "regular"! I have been working with the forum over the last two years in the production of new intellectual content related to technology. In particular, this year I was one of the co-authors of the "global information technology report 2002-2003". I was participating in a variety of sessions an working groups related to technology and competitivness.

What did strike you most at this year's meeting in Davos?

Two things: First, the general uncertainty in both the economic environment an the geopolitical situation. second, the emergence of china as a global power - full of new confidence.

Lessons learnt. Davos is also about new insights and ideas. What did you learn at this year's meeting?

We are living in challenging times. We cannot take things for granted,. We have to be happy for what we have and to work hard to build a better word for everyone.
