Chapter Two Video: Tiny Sumte Opens its Doors to 615 Refugees
On October 19, the 102 residents of Sumte in northern Germany were told by state officials that they would be hosting up to 1,000 refugees in an abandoned office building on the edge of their rural village. In early November, the first 615 refugees from 26 countries arrived. Handelsblatt Global Edition has been documenting the town’s development.
