Commerzbank is close to naming a successor for Chief Executive Martin Blessing and has narrowed down its search to four candidates, Handelsblatt has learned. The bank’s nominating committee is expected to send a shortlist to the non-executive supervisory board by the end of the week. The board will next meet on March 8. Among the final candidates in the running are two internal managers: Markus Beumer, who leads the bank’s core “Mittelstandsbank” division of lending to small and medium-sized businesses, and Martin Zielke, who heads the private clients division. There are also two external male candidates in the running, according to sources in the financial sector. Mr. Blessing, who has led Germany’s second-largest bank since 2008, will step down in October 2016 . He announced in November that he didn’t want his contract to be extended.   Picture Source: Reuters
